Help! How can you get rid of a computer virus? I just got a STUPID virus on my lap top and now everything is slow! every 2 secs a scan thinngy pops up askin me is i want to get rid of the virus .. but i dnt want to use that option .. i wud rather take it to a store for sumone to fix .. i was wondering though .. how much might that cost me?

    It depends on how badly your computer is damaged and or infected. I would estimate approximately $50 and up to remove a virus. $75 and up to $150 to do repairs. Of course the cost to repair a computer depends on what needs to be repaired. If lucky the cost to do the job is lower than my estimates. Check around because there will often be people willing to help you for a lower price and perhaps even for free.

    You can try getting rid of the virus yourself by installing anti-virus software and running a full system scan for viruses and removing any if found. As the person above me has stated, if you are having a difficult time installing the software you can boot your computer in Safe Mode to reduce and even prevent pop ups. The way Safe Mode works is it stops processes and tasks from running at startup.

    He also mentioned turning off system restore. This is done to prevent the virus from sneaking back later after you thought you have gotten rid of it.

    I recommend using Norton and or Malwarebytes to target and remove larger threats. Also, Spyware doctor to remove smaller threats that Norton and Malwarebytes might miss.
